The FOURTEEN CIRCLES are made with winding strips of folded pink bubblewrap around. Each circle, although at first glance they appear identical, however each one has a randomly positioned patterning of contrasting orange tape to differentiate each one. Marlene Sarroff is constantly investigating randomness, order and chaos. Her focus is on the premise that possibilities are determined by the dynamics of a whole system.

The work reveals the opportunities for a vast array of variable configurations and arrangements. many separate parts come together as a whole, and later are reconfigured into different patterns. The work is developed of everyday materials, where the final form evolves from the innate properties and structures of the material itself.
