Dispersion explores ideas relating to REALITY and how we perceive it. The main inspiration comes from an ongoing research into the inter-relationship between Physics and the world around us. Probabilities are determined by the dynamics of a whole system and investigations reveal the opportunities for a vast array of variable configurations and arrangements. Many separate parts come together as a whole and at a later date are reconfigured into different patterns. Sarroff indicates how the whole becomes not only more than, but very different from the sum of its parts. Impermanence is everywhere and everything is in flux, patterns emerge only to be rearranged into a new dynamic. As in previous work, materials are the driving force behind Sarroff’s work. The employment of brand new manufactured materials, in this instant ‘bubble wrap’,and its unlimited availability, constitutes a physical resource that can be utilised and redefined into a new aesthetic, well beyond its original purpose. Her commitment to ‘bubble wrap’ is inspired by its flexible, translucent qualities, that allows folding, winding, stapling and pinning along with its clear and ‘acid pink’ colour. Patterning and configuration are considered when determining the structure of the works but the final form evolves from the innate structures of the material itself. In this exhibition, sculptural wall works each made to a particular random system, combined with ‘acid pink’ bubble wrap clusters, that subtly suggest, scientific or biological things. The underlying theme of this exhibition is about renewal and transformation and the forever changing world around us.

L'exposition solo de Marlene Sarroff à ParisCONCRET parle de transformation, de flux et d'ordre/désordre, de réduction, de répétition et d'accumulation. «Dispersion» explore les idées se rapportant à la réalité et la façon dont nous la percevons.

L'inspiration principale provient d'une recherche en cours sur l'interaction de la physique avec le monde qui nous entoure. Les probabilités sont déterminées par la dynamique de tout un système et les enquêtes révèlent les possibilités d'un vaste éventail de configurations et d'arrangements variables. Beaucoup de parties séparées se rejoignent dans leur ensemble et plus tard sont reconfigurées dans des schémas différents. Sarroff indique dans quelle mesure l'ensemble devient non seulement plus que, mais très différent de la somme de ses parties.
Comme d'habitude, les matériaux sont la force motrice derrière le travail de Sarroff. Un nouveau matériel manufacturé, ici l'emballage de papier- bulle, constitue une ressource physique qui peut être utilisée et redéfinie en une nouvelle esthétique, bien au-delà de son but initial. La fascination de Sarroff pour l'"emballage-bulle" vient de sa couleur claire, rose acidulé, et de ses qualités flexibles et translucides, qui permettent le pliage, l'enroulement, l'agrafage, l'épinglage.
Lors de la détermination de la structure des oeuvres, le modèle et la configuration sont pris en compte, mais la forme finale évolue à partir des propriétés innées et des structures de la matière elle-même. Dans cette exposition individuelle des oeuvres murales individuelles, chacune faite d'un système aléatoire particulier, se combinent avec des assemblages de papier-bulle rose acidulé, qui suggèrent subtilement les entités scientifiques ou biologiques.
La non-permanence est partout, et tout est en flux, les schémas émergent seulement pour être réorganisés en une dynamique nouvelle. Sa pensée est influencée par le physicien David Bohm, dont la thèse centrale est que toute existence est un vaste océan d'énergie.
